"Do you truly need to ask?" she retorted, not that she wouldn't have asked the same in his place. And, though her first instinct was to tease, she was willing to answer him properly, too. "Of course I did, my love. As charming a child that you were, that was not you, and that meant a weekend of being teased with flashes and snippets of my beloved, but denied the fullness of him." She leaned in to kiss him again, her lips still slightly warm from their last, and gave him a teasing grin. "Though, according to a letter I read, it's fair to say that your younger self missed mine."

Did she sound unreasonably pleased and smug about that?
